IB's accumulate/distribute

Post by 7432 »

IB added a couple new(to me) tools in the last update.
I used the accumulate/distribute for a futures and options order today, an impressive function.
lots of variables available, my favorite on the options side being an implied volatility condition.
for a simple futures order in a thin market, you can set it to buy 2 lots every few minutes(or seconds or hours) 5 ticks above the current bid, or if large size comes up you can set it to be filled right away. great stuff.
its listed under trading tools.

IB has a pretty impressive array of order processing functions now:

They've had iceberg orders for some time.

I like to use their conditional orders quite often in combination with a "one cancels all" group.

For example, you can have a stop and-reverse market order conditional on price rising to a certain level as a target, and put that in the same OCA group as your conditional stop loss order so if either one gets triggered the other one is automatically canceled. Saves a lot of client-side programming (specially for intra-day trading).
