Forum Mgmnt,
VT 2.0 will compare (how well) with TradeSim - currently the most advanced system tester I can find:
http://www.paritech.com.au/AU/products/ ... adesim.asp
http://www.paritech.com.au/AU/products/ ... im_ent.asp
which can be used with metastock (& I believe, other metastock comparable products)
I believe tradesim is an Aussie invention, and has been picked up by Paritech and added on now as an official Metastcock plug-in.

Actually, correct me if I'm wrong, but VT2.0 looks like it will be doing all of this, including the "advanced statistical analysis" of the Enterprise edition:

VeriTrader 2.0 will be more comprehensive than TradeSim.
Based on a perusal of their web site, I note the lack of the following features:
It is my belief that VeriTrader's integration will be much tighter and therefore VeriTrader will offer an easier and more powerful approach to the features that we hold in common with the other platforms like TradeSim or WealthLab like Multiple System Testing, Full-Portfolio Testing, etc.
Perhaps someone who has tried TradeSim can offer better insight.

Based on a perusal of their web site, I note the lack of the following features:
- Stepped Parameters - The ability to automatically test a range of values for system parameters. In VeriTrader this can be done with virtually any system value including equity, slippage assumptions, system parameters etc.
- Algorithmic Language - I've been told the MetaStock formula language is fairly constrained in that it takes an Excel-like formula approach to programming which limits the power of the language and what you can do with your trading systems.
- Source Debugger - A tool for watching your code execute line by line so you can determine the source of problems.
- Trade Charts - Automatic graphing of the each trade on a chart of the underly instrument so you can visually check if a system is using the rules you intended.

Last time I checked, TradeSim couldn't even handle futures trade-by-trade data and requires the most unpleasant experience of working with MetaStock as a system coding environment. Perhaps if I checked the website I would find that these shortcomings have been improved upon.
TradeSim does one thing nicely: it takes output from MS and performs good portfolio MCS as a post processing add-on to MS Portfolio MCS is not to be taken lightly as I understand that very retail level tools can do it. The output is quite good, but it does not let you generate input data. You must rely on MS for that. And MS cant even ever come slightly close to VT as a system design and testing engine. This is where TradeSim big limitation lies.
