whats algo HF programs?

oem, it all depends on your risk tolerance, if you're conservative you'll put only up to 15% of your equity into stocks, another 15% into Mutual Funds and the rest 65% into bonds(corporate, government etc). and having 5% cash. It doesnt matter if markets move everyday, if you're that type of investo...

sometimes I also look at COT reports

I know about Jim Simons and his hedge fund full of phd's, never saw anyone put his fund as rentec though.. Do you have any insights on his trading models? this math wiz seem to crack lots of inefficiencies of the market place

RenTecs? what is that? Why it'd be difficult to hire students to execute trades at the open just like Mr Jones did with short term Tom Demark's systems....

sounds logical to me the only trick for each of us: WHEN it will happen and how you use the opportunity

I disagree with that. Oil, fundamently will be in its up trend until replaced by "green" or magnetic source of energy. It will take a few years

in order to trade a short term system(1-2 days hold) that I've created the backtest shows that the comissions should be as those of the exchange members or its better to be the brokerage house yourslef(when it gets to 1000 contracts a day). Now I understand why such guys as Monroe Trout or Mark Fish...

one of my short term system did very well on Crude Oil and Soybeans, but did bad on Currencies.

some nice moves, old timers might remember 87 with Dow's 500 plunge, only its only 3.5 % drop this time at the level of 12180

RR, I wouldn't trade system 2.... return has to be at least 3 times bigger than the DD, so system 2 doesn't qualify for me

finlay, I agree. Its the same thing I've experienced when I was trading my short term system and took short signals in a strong uptrend, that was completely wrong and taught me a good lesson.
