President/Owner: Tim Arnold

Mr. Arnold began his career designing and developing commodity trading systems on the TRS-80 and Apple II computers back in the early eighties. He spent several years analyzing data, building systems, and working with customers. After graduating from Harvard University he continued to pursue his interested in trading, and landed a job trading at the Chicago Board of Trade. He traded (off floor) in many markets, including grains, currencies, softs, and metals.

Mr. Arnold has been involved in several software company startups. In the late eighties his Top Option™ software product was the premier floor trading options analysis package used by many of the finest options traders on the floor. And later he was an executive at a software company in the Customer Relationship Management space.

Mr. Arnold has extensive experience in information technology project and program management. He spent many years at the Bose Corporation implementing multi-million dollar technology projects, which among other things required significant change management at the executive level.

In 2004 Mr. Arnold began trading a trend following system using a new software package designed for mechanical systems trading. He subsequently acquired a majority interest in the product and in 2005 formed the Trading Blox LLC company. In early 2007 he completed the purchase of the entire product line, marketing, web sites, and publications. He is now the sole owner and principal of the company.

Mr. Arnold is actively involved with customers during the sales process, as a support resource, and continues to lead the research and development process to further expand and refine the functionality of the products. Trading Blox LLC brings together a unique blend of software and trading experience, as well as trading system design, testing, and implementation. We are committed to developing software to help others fulfill their commitment to become better traders.  

The Trading Blox™ software was conceived by traders for traders, based on our observation that today's trading system software does not adequately address the needs of the user community at large. This is true not only for discretionary traders who are interested in learning to trade systematically, but also for systematic traders who don't have the tools at their disposal to help them sharpen their craft, and aren't sure which way to turn.  

Today's publicly available back testing software falls into two distinct categories. The first type offers a slew of indicators and advanced graphic capabilities, but only allows testing on a single stock or commodity at a time, and requires expensive add-on software to test across an entire portfolio. Even then, this type of software is cumbersome and limited at best.

At the other end of the spectrum is software that allows portfolio-level back testing with money management, but which assumes significant programming skills on behalf of the user, and only offers flexibility at the price of a steep, and sometimes insurmountable learning curve. In short, with these products comprehensive testing is possible but painful.

This leaves a sizable gap between what trading system software does today, and what is truly possible. Until now, the ability to conduct comprehensive, full-featured back tests has been the exclusive province of a relatively small group of die-hard programmers and large-scale investment houses.
