How to use CSI data with Trading Blox

Instructions for how to setup CSI with Trading Blox are located here: http://www.tradingblox.com/tradingblox/howto-ua.htm.

Instructions on how to add a new market to UA and to Trading Blox is here: http://www.tradingblox.com/tradingblox/howto-ua-newmarket.htm.

If you have trouble with this setup, check the following settings:

  • CSI UA portfolio is set to ASCII
  • ascii separator is comma
  • ascii field layout is DOHLCVINU
  • ascii file names force .txt extension
  • Display as Decimal is checked
  • Display Decimals with Maximal Precision
  • use C++ backadjuster
  • Generate Forward
  • Roll on Open Interest and 7 days before expiration
  • Date Range settings are "As Available" to "As Available" so you have access to all your data.

Be sure to rebuild all these data files. To double check that these settings are correct, go into the Trading Blox futures dictionary and look at a particular market's file name and folder location. Open this file/location in windows using notepad or use the "Examine Button" to check if the file is linked correctly. Be sure that the format matches the sample data files -- it should be a .txt file and should be comma delimited in the format D,O,H,L,C,V etc. The Date should be in the format YYYYMMDD and the prices should be decimals. Note that changing some backadjusting algorythm in CSI UA will change the file names, so you may need to reset those in the Trading Blox Futures Dictionary.
