All but one of their servers are down (02 Jan 2011, 1730 GMT). Keep trying until you get ua4.csidata.com.

Has anyone else had success with CSI data since this outage? I still cannot get any data since Friday night nor look at their web site.

I cant get anything off ua4.csidata.com either...

They say they are switching over to newer, faster servers, and will be back up in a couple hours. It's about 9 am Eastern time now.

I just successfully downloaded from CSI UA (8:30AM New York time). It took a while. I sat and watched as my copy of Unfair Advantage tried to download from all twelve servers ua1, ua2, ua3, ... , ua12 . None of them were available. Then my copy of UA tried the backup website (csidata2 dot com) and VOILA, success.

I suspect that somebody made a mistake somehow and mangled the domain registration of the domain "csidata.com" ; that might explain why you can't view their main sales website, and why you can't download from their twelve primary servers uaXX.csidata.com , and why you CAN download from their backup server csidata2.com . But this is just a guess.

If you plan to monkey around with the settings in UA, MAKE A BACKUP COPY of your entire C:\ua folder tree. Burn it on a DVD ROM or something. That way if you screw up, you can go back to a working setup.

Last night, after several attempts resulting in UA shutting down. I was able to connect to something. What, I'm not sure as I wasn't looking. Suppose It was lucky that I had the data just before markets opened.

Just tried and their www is back up. And does seem faster to load fwiw.

Thanks Sluggo for sharing your info...

This does drive home the reason for having backup data sources available.

For those of you interested in csi's reasons for this I got the following email reply from Rudi.

Dear Sir,

We change Internet provider to increase our download speeds to our end users.

It takes several hours to change over to the new provider. Please try to download your data every few hours.

I apologize for the problem.

Thanks,
Rudi

Er, yep. And for a homegrown contract stitching mechanism.
