I am learning, I bought some C++ books, but haven't really cracked them open.

kind of depends on where you are at now.

If you learning from scratch like me (but used to know a procedural programming like Basic or FORTRAN:

I recommend:
Coding Techniquest for MS VB.NET (Connell)

I do not recommend the other MicroSoft Press book by Havorsen ( step by step).

Very good books are by Karl Moore, the Tutorials, and the Ultimate and code book.

Beyond that, I don't know. Anyone else ?

After purchasing many books, (and looking through some at the bookstore), I have found 2 of the best books for beginners like me. They are college texts, but start with the basics.

BTW, if you are beginner, consider purchasing a book on algorithm design/software design, in general, and not language dependant. Its the starting point for many college courses that teach a specific language later on.

Any the two books I like are:
Visual Basic. NET How to Program
Second Edition
© 2002

ISBN: 0130293636

Simply Visual Basic .NET 2003: An Application-Driven Tutorial Approach
© 2004

ISBN: 0131426400

BTW, I accidentally got the second book bundled with standard edition. the book and software was brandnew, shrinkwrapped, still sealed for $63 !!!!!!! If you want the disks, make sure your specify this version of the book, because it comes with or without the bundle.

Excellent way to get without paying $2000 for (as I did).

Hello, does anyone know any websites (or ebooks) for sytems traders using C++ or Java? I've only seen this forum... Are there any others out there? Any texts? I am in Belarus, and the mail just isn't dependable or else I'd buy some of the C++ books from Amazon, I haven't seen any about Java, but any websites would be great.
