Max TE D/D Problems

I have noticed on my results that Total Equity Drawdown ( in the monthly equity log) doesnt relate to changes in total equity ? but instead to the closed balance.
I can find hundreads of examples in my monthly equity log whereby the month saw a big win in total equity but the drawdown was say 5 % in total equity because the closed balance withdrew 5 %.
I thought closed trade draw down measured closed trade equity and total equity drawdown measured movements in total equity ? Or am I missing something ?
