I do quite a lot of financial/economics reading and analysis & put my spare equity to work in other investments. From Jan-Aug I've ridden the equity bounce on overseas markets & made a 45% return (now out of this), and then I moved a lot into mining/gold companies a few months back (now star...

I use the TB simulation as a reasonable approximation. Only use order generation if fill was late/early, or to compensate for human errors in the course of trading. You can then re-bias your equity every 1/3/6 months to correct for any drift using some of the Equity Add/Remove custom blox posted on ...

Hi, I started using TB in August 2007. I put together a cautious out-of-the-box system targetting 12% CAGR. I checked the entried & exits every day until Christmas (5 months) I came to see that what happened in TB represented what happened in the actual trading. There were occasional discrepanci...

Hongbo! I'm just using the out-of-the box Donchian Breakout system. I use a fixed date roll, & have rolled every 2 months so far. I know it makes "enough" money in the long run 8) I've recently upgraded to TB Builder and made some nice but simple enhancements to the standard Donchian s...

Notice the reversal of rice at almost exactly $25. Did people just decide they were not that hungry, or is this speculators targetting a nice round number for the short ? Given its probably the latter, there will probably be covering at $20-$22 (same round number principal) leaving the long trend in...

Yep,

Been long on Rice since August 2007 8)

I'm only running a very cautious system, with fairly low risk, so my system asked for only 1 contract. Hopefully liquidity shouldn't be a prob. at this level.

You can get it online ??? Where ?

Already bought it , but damn I'd buy it again online.

Then I could take it around on my laptop - which is significantly lighter than the book :D

Yup, I've seen similar things - if you "optimise" one or two parameters at a time, (e.g. entry conditions, then portfolio filters, then exits) the system can get quite highly tuned to selection you've already made. Then when you revisit the earlier parameters, you find them much more sensi...

Carry Trade System Anyone ?

Hi, On Leonardos Infinite Yield Forex site http://www.infiniteyield.com he mentiones Carry Trades.. I shelved the idea of carry trades a few months ago as implausible (i.e. too good to be true) and I was too busy getting my first fledgling LTTF running. Leonardo's site (He has carry trades as Unique...

Hi, I think if you're trading short term futures contracts with expiry typically a few weeks/months away, it would be VERY hard to convince the revenue that this is investing. Also, you cannot by definition "invest" in rubber, gold, soybeans, oil, IRD's etc. You can only "invest"...

Nope,

As I said, its your MAIN source of income which counts.

Spreadbetting (if successful) would still be your MAIN source of income, so would be treated as a job, and hence taxable.
