There's so much good info in the thread - too much for this newbie - it makes my head spin. I think I need a dumbed down summary... I have enough capital to fund a long term diversified trend following system and the associated risk of drawdown that strategy can bring, so long as I have a robust sim...

Many thanks for the link - I'll start ploughing throw it now In your opinion can a classic trend following system which is not the most complex beast in the world be built and tested without any programming - i.e. using pre-canned blox from for example Trading Blox Pro? I am trying to break things d...

Trading Blox v TradersStudio?
For a non-programmers design of a first long term trend following system.
Any wisdom for those who know both?
Pros and Cons? TraderStudio is a lot cheaper so would be good to understand what the extra bucks buy in TB.....

Market Data (I know I'm dumb - dropped on my head as a baby)
ok - I have to admit this is covering ground from some earlier posts/topics. However I'm still a little confused so if someone can make the responses to the below 3 questions as spoon-fed as possible that would be great! a) As a non-programming techno-phobe, what is the best way for me to get a full...

How long is "very long term trend following"
When people talk about very long term trend following systems what sort of lengths of time are they discussing? For example: a) What length MA's would be used in this kind of system? b) How many day's breakout? I know for example that the original Turtle system is considered medium term trend. I'm d...

But not that much data with the TB product right? Only some? Looks from one of those threads that Reuters not ideal as: a) Needs conversion to be used in TB by market so for me looking to have 000's that would not work? Not sure how that reconciles with the TB statement in my 2nd post... b) The whol...

How can I get historical market data only for testing?
I am a newbie and want to have a sandbox testing environment using for example Trading Blox for a number of months to take the theory I have so far and turn into a concrete backtested system. When I look at CSI for example as a market data provider, I have to sign up for expensive annual or monthly ...
